
Downtown Events Grant
The TDIA Events Grant is designed to support events that contribute to a vibrant and welcoming downtown. By helping offset eligible event-related expenses, this grant encourages activities within the TDIA area that bring people together, increase foot traffic, and strengthen connections between downtown businesses, organizations, and the community.
Application Process
Submit the online application form found below. Applications will be reviewed at the next scheduled TDIA board meeting.
If approved, grant funds will be issued by cheque to the lead coordinator/applicant named in the application.
Approved funding is issued as a reimbursement upon project completion and submission of receipts.
Lead Coordinator Responsibilities
The lead coordinator/applicant is responsible for:

Completing and submitting the application form

Managing the use of TDIA grant funds

Acting as the primary contact for the application and funded event

Submitting a post-event summary after the event, including:
-
A brief event description
-
Details on how the funds were used
-
Estimated number of attendees
-
Names or roles of TDIA members involved

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant Eligibility
Applicants must meet one of the following:

Be a current member of the TDIA, or
-
Be an individual, group, or organization hosting an event within the TDIA area that aligns with the goals of this grant program, with a TDIA member acting as the lead applicant/coordinator.
The lead applicant/coordinator will be responsible for the application, grant administration, and final reporting.

Eligible Expenses
Eligible expenses may include:

Permits and liability insurance

Honoraria for volunteers

Volunteer training and recognition

Venue rental fees
-
Childminding expenses provided as part of the event

Equipment rentals
-
Artist or performer fees
-
Event-related food, supplies, and materials
-
Security
-
Advertising and promotion

Ineligible Expenses
The following expenses are not eligible for funding:

Ongoing programs or services
-
Maintenance costs beyond the funding term

Additional funding for events previously funded through this program

Religious or partisan political activities
-
Individual subsidies or fundraising events

Capital costs, such as building repairs or equipment purchases
-
Payments to event coordinators or event planners
