Downtown Refresh Grant

Up to $1,000 in matching funds to help spruce up your storefront!
For the smaller exterior improvements that keep downtown Terrace looking its best.

Got a tired awning, a faded coat of paint, or a storefront that could use a little love?

The Downtown Refresh Grant is TDIA's funding program for exterior improvements that fall outside the larger Business Facade Improvement Program.

If your project is small, counts as cleaning or upkeep, or just doesn't fit the bigger facade grant, this is for you.

We'll match what you spend, up to $1,000, on eligible improvements anywhere in the Terrace Downtown Improvement Area.

There's no minimum project cost, and you can apply any time of year.

Using Power Drill

The Refresh Grant is for visible exterior improvements that brighten up your storefront and the street.

Think of the possibilities!

Some eligible projects include:

  • Exterior cleaning: pressure washing, window cleaning, graffiti removal

  • A fresh coat of paint on doors, trim, or your storefront

  • Minor repairs and upkeep to the building exterior

  • Planters, hanging baskets, and small greenery

  • Awning or canopy cleaning, repair, or replacement

  • Exterior lighting that improves your storefront

  • Refreshing or repairing exterior signage

How the money works

It's a reimbursement program

This is a reimbursement program. You pay for your project up front, then we pay you back (up to $1,000) once the work is finished and you've sent us your photos, invoices, and proof of payment.

Important: Don't start your project until you've received written approval from TDIA. Work that's already underway isn't eligible.

Questions people ask

Can I apply if I've already started the work? Unfortunately not. Projects must be approved before they begin.

Do I have to be a TDIA member? Yes. The grant is open to TDIA members in good standing within the downtown improvement area

Is there a deadline? No. Applications are open year-round and reviewed as they arrive. (We may pause intake if annual funding runs out — we'll note that here if it happens.)

How much will I get back? Up to 50% of your eligible project costs, to a maximum of $1,000.

When do I get the money? After your project is complete and you've submitted your photos, invoices, and proof of payment. This is a reimbursement program, so you pay up front first.

Can I use this along with the Facade Improvement Grant? You can't fund the same work twice, but you may be eligible for both programs for different projects. Email us if you're unsure.
